People deserve another chance depending on how they have done in the past and their willingness to change.

The consequences and actions one takes will determine the second chance. Some people are not entitled to multiple chances because they have done wrong in the past. In The Other Wes Moore – One Name, two Fates, the mother gives Wes every opportunity to stop getting into trouble. Wes does, and he attends military school. But he ends up going back to crime after he is released. The shots the Wes got were not due to his efforts to improve himself by enrolling in military school. E. Lockhart’s book We Were Liars offers many second chances. Part One, We Were Liars: Cadence travels to Europe to visit her father. Unfortunately, she is unable to spend two summers with them due to an accident. They never respond to her emails almost every day. She later explains that Gat did not reach out to her, and that he was not at the accident scene. Later, Cady finds herself on the island and becomes upset at Gat’s lies. “What would it be like if you asked me to start over?” (Lockhart, 87). Gat would like another chance. He asks for one to show that he wants to make things right with Cady. She was deeply hurt when he abandoned her and didn’t respond to her. Gat, much like the other Wes didn’t deserve another chance.

Your attitude towards improvement and change is key to second chances. A person should accept the chance to learn and gain trust from others. They must also be open to accepting responsibility for their actions. This shows that they are willing to work hard and earn the trust they have lost. This is true for the liars. Cadence was not impressed by their inaction. She returned to the island to forgive them all, as they were all hurt.

The second chance is about forgiveness and opportunities. Giving another the opportunity to forgive is a sign that one is giving them the chance. You can always give another chance. They should be positive and open-minded. The person giving the opportunity should be open to forgiveness and forget. This principle can be applied to my current life situation. There are two relatives who are fighting because of past problems. They have tried to forgive and forget each other, but they are not able to.
